Your work records — days, pay, tips, notes, employers — stay on your device and in your own iCloud. WorkPay Notes never sends them anywhere; it only sends the usage statistics described below.
All data you enter in WorkPay Notes — including work entries, pay rates, tips, and notes — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
If you have iCloud enabled, your data may be synced across your devices via Apple's CloudKit. This sync is handled entirely by Apple's infrastructure and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
To learn which features people use, the app sends usage events to PostHog, a product analytics service, in its EU Cloud (servers in Frankfurt, Germany). The app has no accounts and never tells PostHog who you are.
An event says what happened in the app — for example "the app was opened", "a day was saved", "the shift timer was stopped", "a PDF was exported" or "the WorkPay Pro screen was shown" — and when. It comes with coarse context:
No location is collected. The app tells PostHog not to work out a location from the connection's IP address, and PostHog does not store the IP address.
For subscriptions, events say that a purchase was started, completed, cancelled, failed or is waiting for approval (for example by a parent or your bank), that a subscription renewed, and that a restore found purchases, found none, was cancelled or failed. They say which subscription it was, its price and currency in the App Store, what was charged, and whether a free trial was used. They never contain your Apple ID, payment details, receipts or transaction numbers.
Events never contain your name, email, employer or client names, notes, the amounts you enter or earn (pay, rates, tips, totals), or the contents of your days and reports. The statistics are not used for advertising, not combined with data from other companies, and not sold or shared with anyone.
Earlier versions. WorkPay Notes 1.8 and earlier send anonymous usage events of the same kind through Aptabase, a privacy-first analytics service hosted in the EU, instead of PostHog. Those events carry the app and iOS version, the device model, the phone's and the app's language, the country (worked out from the connection; the IP address is not stored), whether WorkPay Pro is active, and the look and colour theme — never your name, amounts, notes, employer names or an identifier that follows you over time. Updating the app moves it to PostHog as described above.
You can export your data as a JSON backup or PDF report at any time from within the app. Exported files are saved to a location you choose and are not transmitted to any server.
The only third-party service is PostHog (EU Cloud), for the usage statistics described above; versions 1.8 and earlier use Aptabase (EU) for the same purpose. Subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store; we never see your payment details. WorkPay Notes does not use advertising networks.
WorkPay Notes does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app never asks for names, contact details or other personal information from any user.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
